Because water covers more than three-fourths of the Earth’s surface, it is also an essential
ecosystem for the survival of living beings. Therefore, conserving water resources
is the responsibility of all of us.
Currently, wetlands cover more than 36,616.16 square kilometers or 7.5% of Thailand’s area. These wetlands play an important role in water management, and wetland restoration is essential to maintain the balance of nature and the quality of life of surrounding communities. It also helps control floods and enhance food security.
WWF Foundation has been working on the conservation of freshwater resources, focusing on strengthening communities through participation in the management of freshwater resources and driving work through mechanisms at the community level, national and international levels to lead to the conservation and restoration of freshwater ecosystems and promote the sustainable shared utilization of freshwater resources.
