The Forest Change Monitoring Project uses unmanned aerial vehicles, geographic information systems, and remote sensing to support the operations of the National Park Department under 3 main areas of operation: monitoring forest change and land use in conservation areas, which is carried out by the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System ( UAS ) in Kaeng Krung National Park, which is a pilot area of approximately 50,000 rai, and enhancing the potential of the National Park Department officials in applying technology systems for natural resource management, by organizing training for more than 40 officials in 3 conservation areas, including developing a database system and data management guidelines to promote operational efficiency for officials, including natural resource and environmental conservation in the future. Throughout the past, it was found that the various technological systems and innovations that have been applied have yielded good results in supporting area management.
The Forest Change Monitoring Project and Kaeng Krung National Park recognize the importance of establishing a Technology Operation Center for forest resource management, wildlife, and SMART patrol system within the Kaeng Krung National Park area. This center will serve as a hub to support collaboration in project implementation, an operation center, and the collection of data from technological systems in the area. It will also enhance the potential for efficient work and improve the quality of coordination within the Khlong Saeng Khao Sok Forest Complex.
The operation of the project to establish a technology operation center for forest resource management, wildlife, and SMART patrol system begins with the survey of the area for the office establishment. Kaeng Krung National Park has provided space for the office within the Kaeng Krung National Park Office and has purchased a knock-down office building, with the structure made from 1 container, along with office equipment and air conditioners. The operation of the center for forest resource management and wildlife is efficient, safe to operate, with clear, accurate, and up-to-date information. It also allows for faster and more convenient access to information. Additionally, it serves as a model for a technology operation center for natural resource management in conservation areas and as a center for coordinating and transferring technology and innovation for interested agencies. The center also supports the operations of the project’s field officers and functions as a hub for collecting and analyzing for SMART patrol data.
