Terms of Reference for Local Coordinator for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Mae Chaem – Chiang Mai

Postdate : 11/05/2026

Project Name: Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) for Community Livelihood Improvement Community Forests, Kong Khaek Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province

Location: Kong Khaek Sub-district, Mae Chaem District, Chiang Mai Province

Background:

The complexity of the SCP system requires an “operational glue” to transition from theory to practice within the 10-month pilot window. A Local Coordinator is essential to synchronize the efforts of smallholders and FLR349 members, ensuring that the transfer of biological resources from community forests to private lands remains an integrated system rather than a series of fragmented activities. By serving as the primary liaison in the Kong Khaek Sub-district, the coordinator ensures that diverse stakeholders remain aligned with the project’s conservation-through-production goals.

Furthermore, the coordinator is vital for the successful transfer of ethnobotanical knowledge and the facilitation of community-led decision-making. By leading technical workshops and participatory voting processes locally, they foster the transparency and fairness necessary for long-term ownership. This localized presence allows for the culturally sensitive capacity building required to turn agroforestry and value-added processing into viable livelihood opportunities, effectively preparing community institutions to take over as WWF’s enabling role phases out. Through consistent data collection and real-time monitoring of “Green Market” linkages, they document how private land production directly reduces pressure on forest biodiversity. This data is critical for validating the SCP model as a scalable strategy, providing the evidence needed to transform this strategic pilot into a long-term foundation for sustainable landscape restoration in Mae Chaem, Chiang Mai Province.

Objectives:

  1. To coordinate smallholder farmers as well as the FLR349 members.
  2. To facilitate meetings, technical workshops and training activities.
  3. To collect data and monitor the outcome after launching activities.

Scope of Work:

  1. Stakeholder Coordination – act as the central point of contact for smallholder farmers and FLR349 members. The role is to build strong relationships, align farmer activities with project goals, and ensure all members are engaged with the sustainable supply chain.
  2. Workshop & Training Facilitation – plan and execute all field-based activities, including technical workshops, training sessions, and community meetings. You will be responsible for translating complex restoration concepts into practical, actionable skills for local farmers.
  3. Data Collection & Monitoring – systematically track project progress by gathering field data and monitoring restoration outcomes. You will measure the success of launched activities and report on key metrics to ensure the project meets its environmental and social targets.
